The Importance of Audio-Visual Materials in the Language Classroom


The importance of audiovisual technology in education should not be underestimated. There are two reasons for this; one, learning with audiovisual materials creates a stimulating and interactive environment which is a more important thing for learning; two, we live in an audio-visual age which means that having the skills to use audiovisual material is important for a future job. Therefore, exposure to audiovisual technology in education is so important.

The audio-visual technology that is used in education right now is mainly the interactive whiteboard. More than two million interactive whiteboards are now installed worldwide, and this product continues to be used in more and more classrooms.

Not exposing children to different forms of technology is blocking them of vital learning opportunities that could benefit them in their later life.

When we are convinced about the importance of audiovisual in education, it is easier to look through some of the benefits we get through the use of these. Here are some points that are important advantages of using audiovisual materials:

·         Keep Studies Entertaining: The students of today prefer education that is delivered in an entertaining form and teachers love it too! Cartoons for smaller children and short videos/ films are now an effective means to impart knowledge. Entertainment also facilitates the learning to be equally enjoyable and full of fun. The audiovisual systems in the classroom can help stream online videos to the students very effectively.

·         Better Presentation: The greatest advantage that students and teachers enjoy is the ability to view and present content. Individual classrooms themselves are becoming the creative medium compared to the old ones that are very monotonous classes.

·         Safety & Security: The complete installation of the audiovisual systems can be handled very safely without occupying a lot of space.
